Adrian Çollaku argues that creation of the Court for war crimes in Kosovo, is not only a failure of the international missions in Kosovo, as some politicians especially those in the Government, are trying to interpret. There is no doubt that a part of the blame for this failure belongs to the international missions, such as UNMIK and EULEX, because they carried the major burden on the justice issues. However, a part of the blame, belongs to our institutions,” he says.

The blame should initially be addressed to Kosovo diplomacy. Kosovo diplomacy and its Minister, Enver Hoxhaj should have been active on objecting this issue immediately after Dick Marty’s allegations. However, not only Hoxhaj, but the President of the country, Atifete Jahjaga and the Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi, as the key people on leading the country, disdained the report. They simply acted as if nothing has happened. There was no serious reaction, except for same vague statements and a warning of PM Thaçi that he would sue the Swiss Ambassador for slander.

As consequence of this negligence and failure of the Foreign Ministry and other chains of the Government, such as Ministry of Justice, today, Kosovo institutions stand in front of the done deal. In the current situation, when there is no alternative, these members of the Government try to say some “patriotic” words that “this Court is unjust, insulting, ugly,” etc…

So, finally everyone understood that the issue of the Court is closed. Therefore, they have started dealing with other issues, one of them and the most important being start of the publication of surveys on who is going to win the next elections. I guess they have enough time for this now,” concludes Çollaku.
