Vetëvendosje deputy leader, Aida Dërguti considers that Prime Minister Thaçi is using the Assembly of Kosovo to stay in power the same way that he used KLA war to come in power. His movements, both in war and peace, appear to be very harmful for Kosovo, she says.

All means and lies are being used to convince the public opinion that the Tribunal is the right thing for Kosovo. One of the lies is that if Kosovo does not establish the Tribunal, then this would have been reached through the UN Security Council and Resolution 1244, which recognizes Serbia’s sovereignty over Kosovo. The truth is, she says, that it is impossible for UN SC to establish any kind of tribunal for Kosovo, because Resolution 1244 is still in power therefore, the UN SC would have to establish a court for Serbia. Otherwise, establishment of a court only for Kosovo, would automatically mean indirect recognition of Kosovo by Russia and China. Paradoxically, Russia and Serbia have the greatest interest on establishment of this court, and demonizing KLA, she writes.

Since neither the UN SC nor EU recognize Kosovo, Kosovo institutions remain the only possibility to establish the Tribunal and this is why all this pressure is being made and this is why politicians manipulate with the truth. European engagement for justice, built over the paradigm of peace and stability is more political than just. Hundreds of thousands of Serbia’s murderers and rapists move throughout Europe, thank to visa liberalization, while KLA warriors will have the advantage to visit European jails. Believing that this is justice is the same as believing on Santa Couse, writes Dërguti.
