The President of Swiss Federation, Didier Burkhalter, currently OSCE Chairperson in office, will visit several countries of the Western Balkans. Serbia, Albania and Kosovo are part of the agenda of his visit on 25 and 26 April.
Burkhalter will meet with institutional leaders to discuss Switzerland’s engagement during OSCE Chairmanship. The Western Balkans is an important arena for OSCE operations, with six missions currently under way there. Reconciliation and cooperation efforts in this region are one of the priorities of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship, building on Switzerland’s long-standing commitment to peace policy in this part of the world,” says a press release of Switzerland’s Foreign Department.
The President will initially visit Serbia, which will assume chairmanship of the OSCE next year. He will meet with the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister designate, Aleksandar Vucic, with whom he will inaugurate the new Serbian-Swiss chamber of commerce. Switzerland is the third largest investor in Serbia.
