Belgrade – Multiple sources in the northern part of Mitrovica confirmed to our newspapers that several containers were removed in the city that were placed in front of the barricade on the Serbian side of the main Ibar/Iber River Bridge.

It was not possible to get an official response from the Municipal authorities in North Mitrovica, whether and the barricade will be removed, which protects the Serbian part of the city since 2011. Since the introduction of UN protectorate in Kosovo in June 1999, Mitrovica city is divided into northern Serbian part and southern Albanian.

There are speculations that were circling the northern part of Mitrovica last night, that the team of controversial businessman Zvonko Veselinović today in the morning will remove the barricade, which were not verified. Veselinović did not answer phone calls, and representatives of local governments cannot officially confirm and stories told by “colleagues” from the south on the alleged agreement regarding the establishment of freedom of movement.

As Danas was told, the situation will be clearer when a new Head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric arrives to Mitrovica.

Agencies report that the containers were removed at the bridge in the northern part of Mitrovica, monitored by KFOR, KPS and Civil Protection. Sources of Danas say that the people are upset, and wait what next will happen.
