Blomeyer: Decision of the Constitutional Court must be respected (Kosova Sot)

In an interview for the paper, German Ambassador Peter Blomeyer called on political parties to respect the decision of the Constitutional Court. “It is important that regardless of their opinions, there should be consensus among democratic parties that all issues need to be resolved within the judicial system and by respecting the decisions of institutions that are competent for constitutional matters,” he said. Asked about Vetevendosje’s position to suspend dialogue with Belgrade, Blomeyer said Kosovo needs to follow the European course, part of which is dialogue.

Tahiri: If Brussels doesn’t remove barricade, we will do it (RTK)

In an interview for RTK, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri said the barricade on the main bridge in Mitrovica, which Serbs are calling the Peace Park, will not be there for long. Tahiri said if Brussels does not make a decision on the matter, the government of Kosovo would interfere with its legal authority.

Pack: Kosovo needs a PDK-LDK coalition (RTK)

Doris Pack, member of the European Parliament, said the 8 June national elections in Kosovo went very well and that Kosovo is now faced with forming a coalition government. Pack argued that a coalition between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) would be the best solution for the current situation in Kosovo. Pack said she was concerned that the LDK entered a coalition with Haradinaj’s Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Vetevendosje Movement led by Albin Kurti. “I am concerned because this coalition and the person proposed for prime minister are not what Kosovo needs right now,” Pack said in an interview for Radio Kosova.

Police: No room for concern from Jihadist attacks (Zeri)

Kosovo Police issued a statement on Friday evening guaranteeing that in line with security developments or concerned and in cooperation with other relevant institutions, it will undertake all necessary measures to secure a safe environment for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

“Based on recent developments after actions launched by the ISIS organization (Islamic State of Iraq and Sham) in Syria and northern Iraq, and with this organization gaining control over some cities in Iraq, different websites and social networks have published an audio recording of the leader of this organization, which also can be found with subtitles in Albanian, calling for the fight against the so-called ‘rafidi’ and to march on Baghdad. At the same time, it also contains unspecified threats against the West. Following these developments and the publication of the audio recording, many countries, especially those whose nationals are actively involved in the conflicts in Syria and Iraq under the umbrella of this organization, have raised concerns that elements of this organization can pose a potential threat for terrorist attacks outside the conflict zone. Therefore, all steps have been made to increase vigilance, security measures and international cooperation, with the aim of monitoring the situation and preventing any possible threat. Kosovo Police so far does not have any credible information about a direct threat against the institutions, the people of the Republic of Kosovo or the interests of other countries in Kosovo. Therefore, we believe there is no room for concern,” the Kosovo Police press release said.

Kosovo League of Historians to UNESCO: Decan Monastery is being ruined (Koha)

The Kosovo League of Historians, the branch in Decan, has sent a letter to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), complaining that ongoing construction within Decan Monastery are ruining its medieval cultural and historical character. The league of historians calls on UNESCO to undertake urgent measures aimed at preventing the ongoing construction inside the complex. “We also believe that this action is opening up wounds, it is inciting interethnic hatred and it is destroying unique values. Every intervention on the facade of the monastery’s complex constitutes a serious violation of the rules of your organization,” the letter said.
