Opposition coalition agrees to Vetevendosje’s terms on privatization (Koha)
The paper reports on the front page that the opposition coalition has agreed to Vetevendosje’s condition to stop the privatization of Kosovo Post and Telecom (PTK) and the Trepca mining complex. The suspension of dialogue with Belgrade, another condition of the Vetevendosje Movement, is expected to be discussed this week. If its conditions are met, Vetevendosje has not ruled out its participation in an eventual government formed by the opposition coalition. Citing unnamed sources, the paper reports that Vetevendosje has already been offered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior Affairs and the Ministry for Economic Development.
Agreement with Vetevendosje is close (Zeri)
The paper reports on the front page that Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Initiative for Kosovo (Nisma), are expected to meet today with Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti, to discuss Vetevendosje’s conditions for supporting an eventual government formed by the opposition. According to the paper, Mustafa, Haradinaj and Limaj have agreed in principle with Vetevendosje’s terms and are now expected to coordinate steps for the creation of the new government.
Brussels says neither Haradinaj nor Thaci will be Prime Minister (Bota Sot)
Citing sources in Brussels, the paper reports that neither Hashim Thaci nor Ramush Haradinaj will be the leader of the next technical government. Concerned by possible destabilization in Kosovo, diplomats in Brussels are preparing a scenario for a technical and broad-based government that will have a clear European agenda. The new government would be expected to finalize election reforms and implement constitutional amendments, especially those related to the election of the president and government. According to this scenario, political parties would appoint experts – and not necessarily politicians – to senior government posts. The technical government would be expected to govern Kosovo until March 2016. In that regard, political parties would have to sign an agreement by which the Assembly would dissolve in March 2016.
Stojanovic: We’ll cooperate with the majority (Lajm)
Branimir Stojanovic, one of the leaders of the Serbian List, told Gazeta Express that his group, which won nine seats in the Assembly, will cooperate with whoever wins the majority of Albanian votes and is mandated to form the next government.
Kosovo about to reach agreement on energy (Tribuna)
Kosovo institutions are about to sign an agreement for Kosovo’s participation in the regional energy stability bloc, Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo and chief negotiator Edita Tahiri told RTK. Tahiri reaffirmed that there will be only one energy distributor in Kosovo, KEDS, but that there can be other supplying companies which will be able to begin operations once the energy market opens in January 2015. “Although there are tendencies on the part of Serbia to have another distributing company, this has not been taken into consideration by our side”, stressed Tahiri.
