Political analyst from Pristina Azem Vlasi assessed that unless there is an intervention of international factor, Kosovo faces  extraordinary elections, again.

“Unfortunately, there is a risk of going to new elections, unless they don’t intervene and if international representatives don’t help us, in order for better formula to be found, because these political blocks have entered into the viscous circle which will rather take us to new extraordinary elections than to finding a rational solution for creation of the new government,” said Vlasi to daily Epoka e Re.

Extraordinary elections in Kosovo were held on 8 June. For the time being it is not clear whether any of two opposed blocks will manage to collect 61 MPs, that is, a simple majority in the parliament in order to form the government. Constitutive session of the Kosovo parliament is set for 17 July.

Vlasi assessed that Kosovo won’t have the new government until autumn, since the prevailing desire amongst politicians is the one for power, unlike the one for Kosovo’s functionality.

“Based on what we see, it seems that there will be problems at the constitutive session of the Kosovo parliament already, with regards to dispute over who will have the right to appoint the speaker, since opposition will block the PDK even on that matter, and then we’ll have the real crisis emerging,” said Vlasi.
