“My visit to Kosovo has nothing to do with the findings of Mr. Williamson, it was arranged a months ago. KFOR has cooperated with his team to the extent which was requested by EULEX,” said General Philip Breedlove, Supreme Allied Nato Commander in Europe at airport Slatina.

Following the meeting with KOFR Commander, Quint ambassadors in Pristina and representatives of the international organizations (UN, EU, EULEX and OSCE), General Breedlove staged a short press conference at airport Slatina.

“Williamson’s investigation is the matter of European Union and EULEX. KFOR had assisted EULEX to the extent EULEX requested from us. Portions of our archives have been handed over to them, but that is EULEX matter and the legal matter,” said Breedlove.

Breedlove emphasized the importance of KFOR mission and extended gratitude to all soldiers engaged in the mission, and quoted example of Ukraine as the one which shows how security can be fragile.

KFOR Commander Major General Salvatore Farina said that Kosovo is today ten times safer place, compared to 1999.

“We used to have 50.000, whereas now there are 5.000 soldiers on the ground. There was much of a progress…Step by step situation is improving. I already said that new, democratically elected mayors in the north are excellently managing situation and they are very much for cooperation,’ said Farina.

Reflecting on the ‘Park of Peace’, Breedlove and Farina voiced expectation that Belgrade and Pristina will manage to find solution for that issue.
