While Vetevendosje’s terms seem to be unacceptable for the opposition bloc, the Serbian List is expected to get a key role in the forming of the new government. Political analysts in Pristina believe that Kosovo will not have strong institutions if any of the political parties try to form the government while relying on the votes of the Serbian List. They also argue that if a broad-based coalition government is not formed, Kosovo should go to new national elections.

“I think Kosovo leaders cannot allow themselves the luxury of leaving the government and all projects of the people of Kosovo in the hands of the Serbian List, because the latter is quite problematic and has links to the government in Belgrade. The Serbian List should be part of the coalition, but not have a decision-making role. A ruling coalition should not depend exclusively on the Serbian List,” Artan Muhaxhiri, political analyst, told RTK.

Albert Krasniqi, political analyst, said the current political situation favors the Serbian List, “because if Vetevendosje is not part of the ruling coalition, the List will be able to push forward its own priority issues”. “This is not good for the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, because we know that the Serbian List was established in Belgrade, its leaders have been appointed by the Serbian government. The government of Kosovo must not allow to be blackmailed by the Serbian List, especially on the issue of dialogue with Serbia,” Krasniqi added.
