Pristina crisis and “the main guy”(Danas)

Why Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic during a lengthy speech on the occasion of the first 100 days of the government, (for which, as “the best location” was selected successful farm of the family Mužlai in Backo Gradište) did not mention the government’s activities in Kosovo and Metohija?

Representatives of the ruling coalition believe that the reason for that is political crisis in Pristina, which occurred after the early parliamentary elections, because it hampers the implementation of the Brussels Agreement. The opposition argues that “silence on Kosovo” means that Prime Minister wants to cover up the disastrous results of the policy of his government in the province.

“In the last 100 days, in the political sense, nothing happened in Kosovo. We are waiting the solution for the political crisis and the formation of the new Kosovo government, in order to continue with the implementation of the Brussels Agreement and establishing of the Community of Serbian municipalities,” stated both, the president and the member of the Committee for K&M of the Serbian Assembly, Vladeta Kostic and Milovan Drecun, both MPs from Progressive Party (SNS).

Drecun assumed that it was the reason why the Prime Minister in Backo Gradište didn’t mention Kosovo and Metohija and announces that “Kosovo will again be in the centre of activities of the Government of Serbia, as soon the Brussels talks continue. Kostic, “a man who lives with his family in Kosovo,” categorically claims that the problem with the formation of the new Kosovo government is the only reason because the Serbian PM was not talking about the southern province.

“Aleksandar Vucic was silent on Kosovo because it would be desirable if people would forget the Brussels agreement, especially because the ZSO is not yet formed. Democratic Party (DS) supported the Brussels agreement, since it provided the certain guarantees for Serbs in Kosovo. ZSO still does not exist, and now the safety of Serbs is endangered, even national political leaders of moderate options. The fate of Oliver Ivanovic is rarely discussed, because it is an issue that should be forgotten”, told Vladimir Todoric, from the DS.

“Serbs in Kosovo are already accustomed to insincere stories, not only by the prime minister, but also those who deal with Kosovo in the Serbian government. Serbs do not know what is in the Brussels Agreement, they are informed through directives what to do, the emigration of the Serbs from the north started, in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica Serbian houses and apartments are selling secretly. One must openly say what is happening in Kosovo, not to listen only marketing stories and demagoguery,” said Bogdanovic.

He blames the media for “suppression of different opinions” and because they are supporting just “those who live from Kosovo issue, but do not give room for people who live in Kosovo.”

Slobodan Samardzic, DSS (Democratic Party of Serbia) vice president and former Minister for Kosovo and Metohija, said that “Vucic would not have a simple thing to say about Kosovo issue, because demagogic matrix: we work, we were promised …do not match the case of Kosovo. “For Kosovo, there are no promises. Moreover the deadline for the last request is approaching – the signing of a binding document as de jure recognition of Kosovo during the negotiations with the EU.”

“The process of negotiation in Brussels was going by mindless speed only that Vucic could be “the main guy in the village” and that people could tap on his shoulder as a chief of the tribe. The government has allowed foreigners to govern this country only because it was determined to hand over Kosovo and make with foreigners some deal. This government recognized Kosovo and did not get anything in return, and now foreigners continue to blackmail. Situation in Kosovo is getting worse, Belgrade cannot act on the events there, and Albanians are pushing their strategy of inciting migration in the north. They are threatening to the prominent Serbs, just to make people feel unsafe. Then it will start dismantling of “Peace Park” and returning of Albanians north of the Ibar River, but no one will return the Serbs south of the Ibar River,” told Slobodan Samardzic.
