Three members of the steering board for the development of the north are trying to convince representatives of municipalities in the north to use over two million euros collected in this fund. Members of the steering board for the development of the north, the head of the EU Office, Samuel Zbogar, Finance Minister, Besim Beqaj and the representative from Serb community, Daniela Zubac, say that there are no obstacles for this fund to be used. Meanwhile representatives of municipalities in the north mentioned that the use of the fund is waiting for the establishment of the Association of Municipalities with Serb majority.
The Office of European Union in Kosovo explained that consultations for managing of this fund in the future are continuing. According to them, the mayors of four municipalities in the north are being consulted what could be their priorities, while the agreement for expenses has been reached. Gezim Baxhaku advisor of Finance Minister said that they are convinced that there will be many requests for the use of this fund. According to him, failure to use the fund had to do with the establishment of municipal assemblies.
Meanwhile, the person who represents four municipalities in the north at the managing board of the fund, Daniela Zubac, did not give any answer. Lately Serb political representatives in Kosovo have intensified requests to be established Association of Serb Municipalities, according to the agreement achieved in Brussels.
Presently it remains unclear the platform of responsibilities and competencies of this Association, including the role in financial management of this fund.
