The paper’s Brussels-based correspondent, Augustin Palokaj, writes today that Kosovo doesn’t really need such a large number of ministries it currently has and whoever forms the new government should avoid the mistake of having more ministries than Germany or Russia. Such a big government is unnecessary and irrational, considers Palokaj.
Now when Kosovo is in an institutional crisis and it is not known who will form the new government but whoever does so should realise it does not need such a large number of ministries and it certainly doesn’t need a Ministry for European Integrations as political relations with the EU should fall under the responsibilities of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. “EU integration, which is a long-term strategic priority, cannot be achieved by setting up a special ministry but by implementing standards in the field of rule of law, economy, environment and trade,” writes Palokaj.
