Unknown perpetrators have stoned the house of family Nojic in the suburb Kamnik in Gnjilane/Gilan. The incident inflicted material damage on the house, whereas no one was injured, carried RTK and added that family Nojic is frequently targeted.

A brick was thrown on the windscreen of the vehicle, whereas a window was repeatedly broken on the second story of the house, said Srdjan Nojic.

Nojic and his mother live in the house. They left Gnjilane/Gilan in 2000 and returned in 2009. “From 2009 onwards, after we returned, we have suffered permanent provocations and intimidations,” said Nojic.

Spokesperson of the Kosovo police Ismet Hashani said that police had inspected the site, collected evidence and made photos of the vehicle. Hashani added that Nojic refused to give any statement and that he only requested a copy of the police report and compensation of the damage.

Around 12.000 Serbs used to live in Gnjilane/Gilan before 1999, whereas currently there are only 40 of them left in the town.

Office for Kosovo and Metohija most sharply condemned the stoning of the house and vehicle of family Nojic and requested from authorities in Pristina to find perpetrators as soon as possible.

The Office also stressed that the paramount task of Belgrade and Pristina, but international community as well, is to provide conditions for safe, secure and unhindered return of displaced persons to Kosovo and Metohija.

“This and similar incidents are directed against returnees in Kosovo and Metohija, which becomes the rule and not exception, and are not contributing to normalization of relations in the Province and are not contributing to honest activities with regard to return of displaced persons,” reads the Office’s communiqué.
