“Political subjects will do their utmost in order to avoid new elections, because new elections would not bring any specific solution,” Dukagjin Gorani, political analyst, said to RTK2.
“Repetition of elections equally suit and doesn’t suit both sides (PDK and post-election coalition). Elections would be difficult and delicate test for both sides, since none of them would enter the process willingly and being sure about the victory. On the other side both claim that repeated elections would provide a higher level of legitimacy,” Gorani said.
Commenting on speculations with regard to dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade without intermediary, Gorani said that problem lays in the fact that Serbia doesn’t recognize Kosovo as an independent territory, thus bilateral dialogue without intermediaries would be protracted.
“None of the sides got anything from the dialogue, or it is not visible yet in terms of normalization of relations, since there is a paralysis with regard to implementation. Due to many burning internal issues, both sides have difficulties to concentrate on issues of the regional importance and on issues which are not popular in public. From that reason everyone in Serbia would rather choose not to deal with Kosovo, since it is not bringing any political points, whereas in Kosovo no one wishes to deal with Serbia, since it is detrimental in political sense,” Gorani explained.
“Due to a lack of political will for dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, international community, which is not only a sponsor, has to make certain influence in terms of finding ways and will to accomplish this job,” concluded Gorani.
