Kosovo threatened by political and separatist goals of individuals, groups or organizations

Kosovo is under threat by rival individuals, groups or organizations whose aim is achieve their political or separatist goals. This was stated by Prishtinë/Pristina Special Prosecutor Blerim Isufaj, underlining that this is happening since the declaration of Kosovo’s independence.

According to Special Prosecutor Isufaj, these terrorist groups are disposed to exercise violence, threats and other tendencies. He called for fighting of these phenomena by all means.

Speaking about organized crime, Prosecutor Isufaj said that the economic potential of organized crime might also penetrate in state hierarchy.

Kosovo Police director for intelligence and analysis, Ahmet Nuredini, said that these challenges that Kosovo is facing are not only the priority of Kosovo Police, but also for other security institutions.

On the other hand, Dusko Zavisic, OSCE’s director for security and public safety, said that Kosovo has good plans to fight these phenomena.

“Kosovo has very good, strong and elaborated strategies which were adopted several years before that cover the field of organized crime and terrorism, divided into specific categories. There are also good action plans for implementation of these strategies, and we are amidst implementation of these strategies. I have the pleasure to say that implementation is going very well. I believe that between 80 up to 90 percent of the plans have already been implemented,” Zavisic said.

These comments were made in the OSCE-organized seminar on practical and legal challenges in combating organized crime and terrorism held on Thursday.

Kosovo Assembly session postponed to next Thursday

Continuation of the Assembly constitutive session expected to happen on Friday (12 September) was postponed to 18 September. This decision was taken in the consultative meeting with political parties called by the session’s chairperson Flora Brovina.

LDK, AAK, Vetëvendosje and Nisma representatives once again did not respond to Brovina’s call for the meeting.

The request for postponement of this session was made by Srpska List, which demanded additional consultations with political factor following achievement of the agreement between LAN bloc and Vetëvendosje.

“We requested from the session chairperson Flora Brovina to postpone this session to 18 September, simply because, unexpectedly a new political momentum came up in Kosovo, namely signing of the agreement between LAN bloc and Vetëvendosje, knowing that Vetëvendosje is a political entity that explicitly demands revision of the Brussels Agreement and its active participation in implementation of this Agreement. In these new circumstances, we need additional time for consultation with members of our List, Serbian Government, as well as other relevant political entities in Kosovo,” said Aleksandar Jablanovic of Srpska List.

This decision was taken after many movements that happened at the Assembly of Kosovo. Minorities were very busy in meeting one bloc and the other.

Prior to taking the decision, AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj said that postponement of the Assembly’s constitutive session was unacceptable to him.

Adem Grabovci of PDK said they were in favour of holding the constitutive session on Friday; however, he requested prior solution of the political deadlock.

Talking on behalf of PDK, Grabovci said they were also ready for elections. He said that PDK is certain that they will once again come out first.

On the other hand, chairman of the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo (KDTP), Mahir Yagcılar, said that they have decided to support PDK candidate for Assembly Speaker Arsim Bajrami.

Jahjaga: MPs to find solution within Constitution

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga has called once again on Kosovo Assembly MPs to find a solution to the political deadlock based on the Constitution and the laws of the country. Jahjaga conveyed this message during the meeting of the Consultative Council for Communities held on Thursday.

“Our responsibility, also as members of the Assembly of Kosovo, under the oath ‘to represent with dignity the people and to work in the interest of Kosovo and its citizens’ is spread wider, in endeavouring to find solutions within institutions they represent and within the confines of the Constitution,” Jahjaga said.

According to Jahjaga, this would also demonstrate the capability of politicians to manage crisis and readiness to find solutions themselves.

“However, we will coordinate our activities for the benefit of the country, by preserving the autonomy of each institution and guarantee their best functionality,” Jahjaga concluded.

Jevtic: Dialogue with Belgrade should be unconditional

Acting minister of communities and return Dalibor Jevtic said that Srpska List conditions are related to interruption of privatization process in municipalities with Serb majority, establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities and unconditional dialogue with Belgrade.

According to Jevtic, inclusion of Serbs in the future government coalition cannot be expected until these demands have been met.

Daka: CEC ready to organize elections

New elections are among the options for overcoming the current political deadlock. The Central Election Commission (CEC) chairperson Valdete Daka said that this institution is ready to organize elections, whenever they are called.

In an interview with RTK, Daka considered that besides of being a challenge, consecutive elections, also carry on different risks with them.

However, as she said, it is a constitutional obligation for CEC to organize elections. According to her, any time that elections will be called, CEC will organize them as stipulated by the Constitution and laws in force.

RAE community of Shtime/Stimlje discriminated

Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian community is complaining about discrimination in the field of healthcare. Namely, members of Ashkali community in the municipality of Shtime/Stimlje are complaining about inadequate treatment in the family medicine centre of this town.

This concern was also raised by the Communities’ Committee in the municipality of Shtime/Stimlje, in one of its meetings held.

RAE community representative Arton Demiri also admitted that this community is being discriminated. Demiri called for non-discrimination and equality.

However, director of the main family medicine centre and the municipal director of health in this municipality say that they are not aware of this form of discrimination.
