The memorial board to missing journalists Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenic, which was placed on August 21, near Orahovac/Rahovec, by the representative of the Association of Journalists of Serbia and Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija is destroyed and removed again, the third year in a row.

“This is the third time that the board is removed. Last year it ‘survived’ for a month and a half,  this year 20 days. Police keeps ignoring our request and reports and behaves as that nothing is happening,” said Bidmir Nicic, the chairperson of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Meothija. He added that they will continue to place the board every year until the light is shed on the destiny of their missing colleagues.

“This time we won’t report it to police, instead we will report it to ones, for whom be believe that can influence on police to finally find those who keep destroying and removing the board every year,” Nicic said.

Removed memorial board was placed at the location between village Zociste and Orahovac/Rahovec from where missing journalists were kidnapped on 21 August 1998. Slavuj and Perenic went missing on their way to make a footage about missing monks from the monastery Zociste.

Minister for Communities and Return has condemned the removal of the memorial board to missing journalists and said that such incidents are causing disturbance amongst Serbs.
