Twelve families of Egyptian community repatriated from Montenegro received on Monday keys to their new homes in the village of Klinafc, Klina municipality. Their houses were constructed with funds from European Union, while the project was implemented by Klina Municipality and UN refugee agency, UNHCR.
Klina Mayor, Sokol Bashota, said apart from these newly-returned families, the municipality has also allocated land for the return of other citizens. EU Office representative, Christof Stock, said the EU is committed to the process of returns in Kosovo. “You will be a good example for the return of other families as well”, Stock said to the returnees. Predrag Boskovic, Montenegrin social welfare minister, said it is a pleasure to see the families being able to continue their lives at the place they were born. He said there were 120,000 refugees in Montenegro since 1999 and that there are still 11,000 more. Boskovic said more effort is needed to ensure the return of all refugees.
