Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and chief negotiator, Edita Tahiri said today that Kosovo and Serbia have reached an agreement to cooperate on energy transmission and that the agreement will be implemented immediately. Tahiri said the two sides also reached an agreement to expand the agreement on freedom of movement, including the travel of Kosovo citizens to airports in Belgrade and Nis and the transit travel through Serbia to third countries, including new border crossings with Croatia and Hungary, but also the opening of border crossings with Bulgaria, Romania and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. “The agreement will be implemented in two months. Starting from 22 September, Kosovo citizens can use Belgrade airport for transit travel. There was a joint assessment that the implementation of agreements on customs is on a good track and there was also positive evaluation by the European Union,” Tahiri said. Tahiri also said the agreement on energy would benefit all citizens and energy stability in the region, “and law and order will be established in the northern part of the country by shutting down illegal energy operators”.
