The results of dialogue in Brussels did not contribute to establishing trust between Serbs and Albanians, it was agreed at the debate, “Reconstruction of the Future” held in Belgrade.

The debate indicated that the representatives of the political elite in Belgrade and Pristina lack sincerity, and that praises about the achievements of the dialogue in Brussels are unfounded.

Political activist from Pristina Shpend Kursani believes that negotiations “between Serbia and Kosovo in Brussels are led the least for the interests of Serbia and Kosovo,” and are conducted for “the interest of the EU, NATO and the international community.”

“The EU and the United States are interested in short-term stability, more you talk in Brussels, more decreases Serbs integration into Kosovo society on the field,” said Kursani.

Kursani presented the results of research from Kosovo in which 80 per cent of Serbs in the last three months have not seen any Albanian, wondering whether this leads to establishing mutual trust.

Director of the Belgrade Centre for practical policy Dragan Popovic said during the debate that in Brussels is conducted some kind of supervised dialogue that does not include people on the ground.

Debate “Reconstruction of the Future” is part of the festival “Mirëdita, Dobar dan,” which presented Belgrade the cultural scene in Kosovo.

The festival was organized by Civic Initiatives, Centre for Practical Politics and Integra supported by the ZFD forum for the Western Balkans and the Open Society Institute in Pristina.
