UNDP has significantly contributed to the advancement of the rule of law in Kosovo, developing skilled personnel and gender equality, said a report presented to mark the 15th anniversary of the organization in Kosovo.
UNDP chief in Kosovo, Andrew Russell, said that the role of international organizations becomes over the years increasingly important in Kosovo.
Russell said that UNDP prepared a good strategy to continue establishing the rule of law in Kosovo, as well as strategies for reducing unemployment, more effective legislation and many other areas.
“We will have a lot of challenges over the next 15 years. We will continue to cooperate with Kosovo and international partners to improve the quality of life for all citizens. We are not a rich organization, but we have a lot of ideas and a young and dynamic people who work in this organization. Diaspora will, for example, in the next period invest in the future of Kosovo,” said Russell.
Andrew Russell added that the people of Kosovo should be more involved in finding ideas that can improve the quality of life.
Ambassador of Finland in Kosovo Anne Meskanen said she was satisfied with the work of UNDP and the previous achievements of the organization.
“One example of the good results of UNDP is creation of new jobs in Kosovo, especially when it comes to the employment of women and their involvement in politics. UNDP achieved outstanding results thanks to the knowledge and motivation,” said Ambassador Meskaken.
Presentation of the UNDP report attended numerous representatives of local and central government, political officials and representatives of international organizations.
