VLAN MPs held Assembly session

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

There has been four months since they won MP mandate, but on Thursday they had their first opportunity to use Assembly’s podium to debate. Although positions between VLAN Bloc are clear, they debated with PDK in distance for over two hours, KTV reported.

This time around, the youngest MP Teuta Rugova played the role of Assembly chairperson Flora Brovina. Rugova considered it a continuation of the constitutive session, no matter that the session was only called by the Bloc.

They qualified PDK as a minority, criminal party that has conquered the state and that it misgoverned the state for seven years now. They mentioned problems in economy, lack of energy and the risk of extremism that Kosovo is being exposed to.

Kosovo President and Constitutional Court President were not spared from their accusations either. They mentioned the envelope to President, which, according to them, is making her weak toward taking big decisions.

In the meantime, they called the Constitutional Court President, Enver Hasani, a public spokesperson of PDK and Hashim Thaçi.

Vjosa Osmani of LDK accused PDK of fearing to face with citizens in an open debate. Visar Ymeri of Vetëvendosje called the current government as a government of hooligans, while Arben Gashi of LDK admitted that there are differences between parties that joined in the Bloc, adding that they got unified to stop bad governance.

Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti was very harsh. He mentioned problems one by one, which, according to him, PDK’s bad governance has caused. Kurti said that they joined to stop Intelligence Service of Kosovo (SHIK) from governing the country.

One out of two minority community MPs that were part of this session, the Egyptian community MP Veton Berisha, called on Albanian political spectrum to sit and reach an agreement, saying that because of the current political deadlock Egyptian families are leaving Kosovo.

At the end of the Assembly debate they came out with a joint statement. They did not give much time to PDK and Flora Brovina to convene the constitutive session. The largest part of minority MPs were not part of the session convened by the Bloc, since chairperson Flora Brovina did not allow distribution of invitations to them.

Thaçi: Thursday’s Assembly session illegal

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

PDK considers Thursday’s session held at the Assembly of Kosovo by VLAN representatives illegal.

PDK head Hashim Thaçi said that the Bloc has misused Assembly’s space and the entire administration for its political goals.

According to Thaçi, the session held by the Bloc has no legal or political value and as such it cannot be considered an Assembly session. He considers the action of LDK-AAK-Nisma and Vetëvendosje MPs wrong.

He called for continuation of consultations at the President’s Office, where, according to him, political party leaders should find a solution, without excluding compromise. Thaçi said that parties must discuss between them and avoid the barricading and impeding practice in building of Kosovo institutions.

He said that they will respect Constitutional Court’s decision, which, according to him, gives the right to PDK as winner of elections to build country institutions. Thaçi ruled out new elections saying that Court’s verdict offers the solution, but other parties should also agree with this.

President Jahjaga meets law enforcement agencies’ heads

(RTK2, Klan Kosova, KTV)

President Atifete Jahjaga once again met with the heads of the security and justice mechanisms, where the Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi also took part.

A press release issued by the Office of the President reads that the meeting aimed to coordinate the actions of national institutions in the preservation of national security.

The meeting discussed about the inter-institutional actions undertaken for the prevention and combating of extremism and threats which threaten Kosovo by individuals suspected to have inspired and have joined the terrorist cause of the Islamic State, the release adds.

Suspended Deputy Ombudsperson Staletovic tried to return to his workplace

(Klan Kosova)

Bogoljub Staletovic, one of the deputies of Kosovo Ombudsperson Sami Kurteshi, went to offices of this Institution willing to return to his workplace, although he has the status of the suspended person until a new decision is taken by the Assembly of Kosovo.

Ombudsperson’s spokeswoman Majlinda Lulaj told Kosovapress that due to circumstances that Kosovo Assembly is in, his case was not treated and Staletovic keeps having the suspended person’s status until a new decision is taken by the Assembly.

The suspension decision was taken because he misused Ombudsperson’s Institution, non-completion of his duties and other problems that he had at this Institution.

Ombudsperson wants justification about mandate extension of international judges

(TV21, Klan Kosova)

Ombudsperson’s Institution addressed a request to Kosovo Constitutional Court regarding President’s decree for confirmation of mandate extension of the international judges at this Court.

The Court was asked if this deviation from the Constitution can be justified based on the international agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union ratified on 22 April 2014, and other laws in force of the Republic of Kosovo.
