On the likelihood (Koha Ditore)

Lumir Abdixhiku writes in his weekly column that the institutional stalemate seems to have taken on a wrong turn so much so that the patience of international partners is drawing to an end.  This is not because everyone is at fault but everyone is part of the deadlocked situation and therefore everyone is getting the same share of the blame. The stubbornness of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has brought the post-election coalition bloc in an even more unenviable situation because in the last two months, the Bloc has only managed to empower the PDK and has put discussing the forming of the government in the second place. However, the PDK’s empowerment is also due to the contribution from the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, and the Constitutional Court. Any delay at forming institutions, according to Abdixhiku, will only suit PDK as it becomes a likely alternative at forming them. In this situation, the Bloc should reach out for a compromise. If this compromise entails giving up the post of Assembly speaker to PDK, this then paves the way for the Bloc to form a government. This scenario should also be supported by the PDK which is calling for a compromise solution, adds Abdixhiku.
