PDK and LDK agreed to form the new government

TV channels in their late new editions reported thatThaçi and Mustafa agreed in principle for the establishment of a political coalition between the two political parties, namely PDK and LDK.

A press release issued by the Office of the President reads that President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga within the efforts for the establishment of Kosovo institutions, received on Wednesday late hours in a joint meeting PDK chairperson Hashim Thaçi and LDK chairperson Isa Mustafa.

President Jahjaga invited as well the US Ambassador to Kosovo Tracey Ann Jacobson to attend the meeting.

At the meeting held at the Office of the President, on the initiative of the two leaders, Thaçi and Mustafa agreed in principle to establish a political coalition between PDK and LDK and to build the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, according to the Constitution and rulings of the Constitutional Court

The two political leaders emphasized their commitment to quickly finalize the institution-building process, based on the Constitution, the Constitutional Court rulings, constitutional principles that preserve the multi-ethnic character of Kosovo, meet international obligations and strengthen the rule of law.

‘President Jahjaga as a factor of unity and guarantor of democratic functioning of Kosovo institutions will continue to play the role of facilitator in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo in the process’, reads a press release issued by the President’s Office.

LDK to nominate the Prime Minister

LDK through a press released informed that a coalition agreement has been reached with PDK for establishing the new Kosovo institutions.

According to the agreement LDK will get the post of the Prime Minister while other ministerial posts will be shared equally between the coalition parties.

LDK to start negotiations with all political parties, including PDK

LDK’s general council meeting was concluded in the late evening hours. Klan Kosova reported that the LDK General Council has authorized its chairperson Isa Mustafa to contact all political parties in order to find alternatives for the establishment of Kosovo institutions.

Following the meeting, Isa Mustafa said that it was a substantial meeting. According to Mustafa they have discussed LDK’s stance in the new Government in line with ruling of the Constitutional Court and the recommendations of the president.

However Mustafa didn’t excluded PDK as potential partner, saying that the negotiations will start next week.

Haradinaj confirm Bloc’s dissolution

Aleanca për Ardhmërin e Kosovës (AAK) Chairperson Ramush Haradinaj said that the VLAN bloc composed of his party, LDK and Nisma për Kosovën has ceased being active since last Friday.

During a public appearance in Obiliq/ Obilic municipality Haradinaj said that none of the three parties had the courage to come out publicly and announce the dissolution. According to him Bloc’ parties have decided to follow their own paths.

Haradinaj said that his party has to decide about future steps, including a potential accord with PDK, which is looking for potential governing partners. He said that first option for AAK currently is the opposition.

Meanwhile Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës (LDK) chairperson Isa Mustafa wrote in his personal Facebook account that LDK will offer its leading role in the governance of Kosovo, but according to Mustafa LDK will be opened for partnership with all political parties that are determined to develop rule of law.   Mustafa reiterated that Bloc’s agreement of 10 June must be implemented in its integrity, or to not be implemented at all.

LDK branches have fully supported Mustafa’s nomination for Prime Minister but have also have expressed against potential coalition with LDK.

On the other hand Caretaker PM Hashim Thaçi spoke on Thursday at the government regular meeting about the recent political developments and the future government. Thaçi said that the new Government should be multi-ethnic and based on the result of 08 June elections. He expressed his confidence that the new institutions will be established in the next days.

While Shpend Ahmeti of Vetëvendosje reacted to the recent developments as saying that Vetëvendosje, despite signing the agreement, didn’t trust to the Bloc parties.

Whereas through a press release, Nisma për Kosovën political party expressed its confidence that the Bloc agreement can still be implemented.

Braathu and Cliff request quick establishment of Kosovo institutions

Five months have passed since the elections were held and Kosovo has not yet established its new institutions.

Norwegian Ambassador to Kosovo Jan Braathu criticized the politicians for neglecting solutions to the current political deadlock.

According to Braathu in politics parties should talk to each other in order to find solutions. He called on political leaders to leave aside the party interests and think about the interest of Kosovo.

Asked if the international community should intervene to facilitate the solution of the political deadlock, Brathu said that this should be solved by the political leaders in Kosovo.

Whereas the UK Ambassador to Kosovo Ian Cliff said that it is not up to him to comment on this matter, as it is not at the interest of internationals to interfere in relations between parties.

Cliff considered as the most important the fact that Bloc parties have already agreed to vote for the PDK’s nominee for the Assembly Speaker. He emphasized that there are no reasons to delay the continuation of the constitutive session and added that institutions should be established at the earliest time possible.

Jahjaga: Let’s end gender barriers

Gjakovë/Djakovica mayor Mimoza Kusari-Lila said during the launch of Kosovo Women Entrepreneurship Week, which is organized under the patronage of the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, that women should engage more in doing business and become more independent.

Whereas President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga emphasized that Kosovo aims to align itself along the developed societies. Jahjaga noted that concrete steps have been undertaken in this direction through creation of policies, legislation and other different mechanisms in order to offer more access to women for economic empowerment.

Jahjaga from this forum conveyed the message stating that women entrepreneurs are not alone; they enjoy full institutional support and no doubt the support of women entrepreneurs in realization of their projects.
