Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), writes on his Facebook account today: “Last night, after lengthy discussions and taking into account the situation in the country, we agreed in principle with Mr. Hashim Thaci, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, to reach a coalition agreement for the new government. The government will be led by the LDK and responsibilities will be divided equally on all levels. Present at the discussions were the President of Kosovo and the United States Ambassador. The meeting was held after the LDK General Council agreed that negotiations should be held with the entire Albanian political spectrum and minority communities to establish the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and also after numerous statements by the AAK about the post-election coalition. I would like to thank partners of the post-election coalition, Mr. Haradinaj, Mr. Kurti and in particular Mr. Limaj for joint efforts to create conditions for a completely different governance but unfortunately this was rendered impossible by the decision of the Constitutional Court and the criteria that were set for the new government but also due to lack of readiness to reflect on the new circumstances. I will do my best to reach the goals of good governance, the rule of law and for European partnership. In the next couple of days, we will work on the definition of the agreement, which includes the government agenda, the government program, the government structure and the allocation of responsibilities, which will be adopted by LDK mechanisms.”
