The campaign, on the occasion of 16 Days of Activism against Violence Against Women aims to support the efforts of the Victim Advocacy and Protection Office, to prevent domestic violence and motivate the public to report any case to the Victim Advocates helpline: 0800 11 11 2.

“Domestic violence is a widespread phenomenon in Kosovo, as in the rest of the world, and unfortunately it is not always easy to identify or react to it because a lot of people think that this is an internal issue of the family. We now say that domestic violence is not an internal issue of the family and it must be prosecuted,” said Neil Tobin, head of the OSCE mission regional center of Pristina, at the campaign launch.

Tobin added that in the period from January to June 2014, more than 400 cases of domestic violence were reported to the Kosovo police and that many more still remain unreported. Within the OSCE campaign “Real men never hit a woman”, which is held throughout Kosovo, will be presented posters in Albanian and Serbian language. The campaign will last four weeks.
