On the occasion of the World Aids Day [December 1], Radio Kosova reports that in Kosovo there is a constant number of cases of people infected with HIV, nearly four to five per year, which brings Kosovo among the countries with low prevalence, but not low risk of HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Izet Sadiku from the Kosovo University Clinical Centre, told Radio Kosova that it is very worrying the fact that there is no research done to know precisely how much is the virus present in Kosovo. According to Sadiku, one of the main problems is that the tests for the identification of the disease continue to be sent to laboratories in France, although Kosovo has the equipment to do the tests, but there are no reagents that are necessary to detect the virus.
There are 14 cases with HIV that are currently being treated at the Kosovo University Clinical Center.
