The director of the Kosovo government’s Administrative Office in North Mitrovica, Adrijana Hodzic, said that there is a possibility that the office might not exist next year under the same name.

Hodzic said to Kontakt Plus radio that Administrative Office was established in order to serve as a provisional solution until North Mitrovica Municipality is formed, that is, to serve as a basis for the new municipality North Mitrovica. She further said that Office’ staff are employees who are civil servants with permanent contracts and that they are protected by the law. “The idea for establishing the Administrative Office was that it serves as a basis for new municipality North Mitrovia, thus it might happen that Administrative Office might not exist under that name in next year,” Hodzic said. She stressed that local self-governments in northern Kosovo can’t function unless adequate budgets are adopted. She also highlighted the vague situation with regards to budgets of municipalities in northern Kosovo for 2015.

Hodzic concluded that citizens were promised better life during campaign for local elections and that it would be problematic if local self-governments won’t have sufficient funds to respond to citizens’ needs.
