Albania’s Minister for Innovation, Information Technology and Communication, Genc Pollo, said that despite the fact that Kosovo is not a member of the UN, they are working so it could receive the telephone prefix of Albania, ++355.
In an interview for Radio Kosova, he said that he discussed with Minister of Economic Development Besim Beqaj and they are “on the verge of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation with Kosovo, concerning in general, the fields of Information Technology and Communication.”
“As part of the memorandum, we will establish a working group in order to find solutions for the prefix of Kosovo, including the possibility of allocation of Albania’s prefix for Kosovo,” said Pollo.
Asked what were the other obstacles except for the political ones, Pollo said that, “The working group that we plan to create in the future, will consider the technical and judicial possibilities, the international law and it will propose certain demarches in order to achieve this.” He stressed that “prefixes are allocated by the International Union of Telecommunications.”
