Kosovo’s Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi has condemned the attacks by several extremist groups on Friday against the publication of Kosovo 2.0 magazine. The attack threatened public order and the right of expression, freedom of movement and freedom of the media.

Thaçi said in a statement that violence and threats from these groups against the organizers of the event and the editorial staff of the magazine are unacceptable and have no room in a modern and democratic state.

“The Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Kosovo ensure that every citizen of the Republic of Kosovo has the right to expression and no citizen should be discriminated on basis of ethnicity, gender, religious belief or sexual orientation.”

“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo is committed to respecting human rights and freedoms, political and religious, while respecting and protecting all constitutional categories from discrimination. This is a principle obligation for all institutions and the political spectrum that supports the agenda of European integration.”

“The Government calls on law enforcement authorities to find the perpetrators of the violent acts and bring them to justice.”
