Gračanica from Kosovo village to urban settlement (KIM Radio)

Vladeta Kostic, newly elected Mayor of Gračanica/Graçanicë plans to transform   Gračanica/Graçanicë from Kosovo rural settlement into an urban settlement.

“My political endeavors, that is political struggle, is that we try to make out of Gračanica an administrative, cultural, even an economic center of Serbs. I would personally like that we construct a building in Gračanica where most important institution for Kosovo Serbs would  be located,” said Kostic to RTV Kim.

Kostic said that there is a plan for construction of a bypass road around Gračanica/Graçanicë which would connect Pristina and Gnjilane/Gilan, and contribute to protection f the Monastery Gračanica, which is currently being exposed to a heavy traffic. He went on to say that there are also plans for decentralization of municipal services in a way that some services would be available in other municipal settlements.

Newly elected mayor reflected on the issue of unemployment and said that municipality can offer material and logistic assistance to anyone who submits self-employment project.

Kostic touched upon the issue of the Association/Community of Serb municipalities and said that it should be an institution, through which Republic of Serbia would finance education, health, economy, rural development and spatial planning in a transparent manner. He added that there is ongoing political struggle for center of the Association/Community of Serb municipalities to be in Gračanica/Graçanicë.

Kostic will take over the post of the Mayor of Gračanica/Graçanicë following verification of the elections results.
