Adriatik Kelmendi, editor in chief of the Kohavision (KTV) broadcaster, considers that the independence day of Kosovo should be celebrated, especially at the times when the morale of the population is low. According to him, 17 February represents the most significant date for Albanians ever since the independence of Albania, being that it represents liberation from Serbia. Kelmendi further writes how the United States celebrated the Independence Day even in the most difficult times. Even though Kosovo cannot be compared with the United States, he writes, there is no reason not to follow the same moral patriotism which fulfills people with optimism for the success as well as engagement for progress.

Kelmendi considers that it is a naivety to compare the 28 November with the 17 February, noting that the first date represents liberation of one part of the Albanian nation from Ottoman Empire and the second one independence of the other part of the nation. He considers that there is sufficient reason for Albanians in both sides of the border to celebrate both these dates. “Defeatism is not a solution, it is “nocebo,”  writes Kelmendi.
