By normalization of relations Pristina implies that they will submit a lawsuit for genocide against Serbia, while in the same time they expect from Belgrade to enable it through recognizing ‘Republic of Kosovo’ at the United Nations.
It could be said that Hashim Thaci’s announcement is highly cynical since Kosovo is not entitled formally to submit lawsuit in front of the International Court of Justice since it is not a UN member state. Thus it appears that Serbia should not block them on their way to the East River in order to enable them to submit a genocide lawsuit. That is absolute absurd, which is totally unacceptable for our state.
So, it is about threats which are not going in line with normalization of relations, but placing a salt on the open wound. Thaci’s announcement is directly opposed to Brussels dialogue, and already reached Brussels Agreement. It is not possible to continue the negotiation process, if it is expected from Serbia to accept such humiliating game of Pristina.
In essence, Belgrade has an opportunity now to condemn such anti-European policy of Albanian leaders from Kosovo, and by defending the European principles to protect and our state interests. Serbia should make it clear to Brussels that EU, as the mediator in dialogue, should react on threats coming from Pristina that are not going toward any solution.
