Political representatives of the Presevo Valley requested officially today during a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Self-Government, Kori Udovicki, continuance of the dialogue with the Government of Serbia, with the intention of integration of Albanian community it the state institutions of Serbia. The news was confirmed by the Albanian deputy at Serbia’s Parliament, Shaip Kamberi.

“There is an impression that Deputy Prime Minister Udovicki confirmed our request, however let us wait and see how the Government will react,” said Kamberi who participated at the meeting held today in the morning between the representatives of the Serbian Government and the representatives of the Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedhja municipalities.

He told Anadolu Agency (AA), that the European Union chapter 23 obliges Serbia to undertake steps for the national minorities. “Integration of Albanians in state institutions is an issue that has been dragged since 2001 and there is absolutely no progress, despite Serbia’s special program  for the measure which would improve the situation in municipalities.” He added that this program was drafted in 2013, initiated by the OSCE mission, which reached an agreement with the Prime Minister of Serbia to draft a concrete plan which would be discussed and assessed within three months. However, the assessment dialogue never took place.
