“This is a cheap and ridiculous way to call for hatred against every field and everyone that is ready to face with you and your fascist and profane methods,” Stojanovic said.

Position of Albanian woman in society in general still is not at the desirable level, and there is lot more work to be done to achieve equal representation in society. This was stated at the joint solemn session of Kosovo Assembly MPs with women MPs from Albania and Macedonia, as well as women politicians from Montenegro and Presevo, which was held on 8 March, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

“When it comes to the managing positions, women face the glass ceiling, which allows them to see managing positions, but not also to reach them,” the LDK MP Teuta Sahatqija said.

AAK caucus leader Donika Kadaj-Bujupi accused Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and his Deputy Hashim Thaçi of ignoring women.

Prior to the session, these women politicians met with Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli. Veseli said that a society without gender discrimination must be built, where participation of women in public life is understood as something natural and a necessary value, while he admitted that gender discrimination still exists in Kosovo.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi congratulated women on International Women’s Day.

Vetëvendosje Movement activists, who carried out a symbolic action in Prishtinë/Pristina centre, said that International Women’s Day finds Kosovo with 55.5% women unemployment.

“Only 15% of Kosovo women own property, or property is registered on their behalf, while privatization of public enterprises have left many women jobless and they consequently have lost their economic independence,” said Vetëvendosje activist Teutë Rrusta.
