Pristina authorities are trying to use political vacuum, which occurred after Serbian MPs left Kosovo institutions, so they could continue illegal privatization of the property in the Serbian areas. Kosovo Property Agency announced privatization of 9 premises of socially owned enterprise “Luks” till the end of the month.
Mayor of Mitrovica north Goran Rakic said that it is a dangerous precedent, which has already been seen. “Pristina estimated that it is a right time to dishonestly finish the change of the ownership structure of enterprises. That is the consequence of the political vacuum which occurred after The Srpska list decided to “freeze” participation in the Kosovo institutions. We will stop this privatization by all political means.”
The president of Leposavic Municipality, Dragan Jablanovic, recalls that KPA already tried to privatize few enterprises in this municipality without the consent of the local institutions. “They will not be able to privatize enterprises, because according to the Law on local self-government the ownership of municipality over its possessions is indisputable.”
