The Mayor of Gračanica/Graçanicë Municipality Vladeta Kostic, said today on the occasion of anniversary of March Pogrom that Serbs in Kosovo will never forget innocent victims of the violence in 2004 which lasted several days.
Kostic stressed that 11 years ago the biggest persecution of population took place in the comprehensive European history.
“Everything around Gračanica was a target of destruction, whereas Gračanica at that time, like today, remained the symbol of survival and struggle for better life of all who live here despite everything. We’ll never forget those who died, we’ll never forget destruction of our spirituality and culture, however we have to find strength to rebirth and continue for the benefit of our children and all of us. All we ask is equality in rights to safety and economic development, right to survive, and return of persecuted,” said Kostic and appealed that responsible for causing, organizing and carrying out violence in March 2004 are brought to justice.
