With the sound of Serbian anthem and with Serbian flags décor first joint session of the Kosovo Serb-majority municipalities was held in Graačanica/Graçanicë today at 10:00.

Introductory speech was presented by the head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đuric, with reflection on 17 March.

“We gathered in Gračnica to get united and show our strength with the wish that freedom remains our leading idea, not to the detriment of others, but for the benefit of the Serbian nation. I came here to tell you that state Serbia is with you and will share a burden of that struggle. Thus, it is important today that we define our goals and priorities in that struggle,” said Đuric.

Belgrade’s Liaison Officer with Pristina Deajan Pavicevic, Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Branimir Stojanovic and Minister for Local Government Administration Ljubomir Maric, were also present at the session.

Branimir Stojanovic said that political failure of Serbs would mean disappearance of Serb population. “We are dreaming about the freedom which won’t be taken away by anyone, that we don’t depend on anyone and on any budget calculation. Our failure would mean disappearance of Serbs. Our success will be measured with kilometers of asphalted roads, constructed houses, economy, and first of all with bigger number of children in our schools,” said Stojanovic.

“We are united in showing our strength, wisdom, will and determination to survive. We have to show skills to adjust to circumstances and fight for better tomorrow,” said Minister for Local Government Administration Ljubomir Maric.

Former minister for communities and return Aleksandar Jablanovic, due to whose dismissal Serbs left Kosovo institutions, was also present at the meeting. “We have carried out our part of the job and obligations. We took part in elections and in the work of institutions. Association/Community of Serb municipalities is our duty and obligation of Kosovo authorities, and the best key to realize our interests,” said Jablanovic.
