Assembly fails to endorse opposition recommendations (Koha)

The two-day debate on the work of the government during its first 100 days concluded on Friday without endorsement of opposition parties’ recommendations. They requested accountability of the ministries during the parliamentary questions, transparency, making public the contract for Pristina-Hani i Elezit motorway as well as the tender procedures for “Kosova e Re” power plant and a status for Trepca. Opposition criticized the government’s work in almost every sphere, and the debate did not lack labeling and insults.

Djuric: Mitrovica is Serbia (Zeri)

Serbia’s Director of the Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric, stated on Friday that problems for implementation of the Brussels Agreement occurred because of the lack of respecting the dynamics. “We have an absurd situation where Serbia implemented all the points, from 7-15, while the six first points have not even been touched, because Pristina did not implement them,” said Djuric. In a meeting with the mayors of the so-called temporary bodies in Kosovo, Djuric said that Mitrovica is Serbia and that Serbia will remain there.

Ranilug replaces “Slobodan Milosevic” with “Mother Jevrosima” (Koha)

Ranilug Municipal Assembly has decided to replace the nomination of “Slobodan Milosevic” Street with the Orthodox religion figure of Mother Jevrosima. These changes came after the reaction of Kosovo and international institutions, which considered that establishment of such plate with the name of the Serbian dictator, was unacceptable. Speaker of Ranilug Assembly, Sasa Aleksic, stated that changes were made based on the request of central authorities. He added that the initial nomination was made based on people’s will.

Strategy for integration of Mitrovica North University (Zeri)

Kosovo’s Ministry for Education, Science and Technology will establish an independent commission which should integrate Mitrovica North University into Kosovo’s education system. A government team consisted by experts will draft the work of the independent commission which should consider Mitrovica North University’s compatibility with Kosovo’s central level legislation.
