The best offer for Ski Center Brezovica gave the French consortium MDP Consulting, together with world-renowned operator Compagnie des Alpes. French consortium has offered a three-phase development project for the development of the tourist centre Brezovica, together with planned investment of 410 million euros and more than 3,000 new jobs. The Consortium has announced the construction of 100 kilometres of ski slopes, 20 modern ski lifts and infrastructure.

Mayor of Strpce/Shterpce reminded that even in 2011 the European Commission together with the municipality initiated the process of building a new ski centre.

Speaking about yesterday’s meeting of the inter-ministerial group, Nikolic said that Ski Centre will not be privatized. Instead it will be given on concession for 99 years adding that Belgrade and Pristina will find solution for property.  According to him, it is “part of the Brussels agreement and upcoming negotiations will stipulate the way in which the property and legal matters will be resolved.”

Nikolic said that the consortium is given the new 180 days to make its master plan in cooperation with local governments and to provide bank guarantees. “If they do not, there is a mechanism to terminate the contract. I and Minister of Finance, within the inter-ministerial group, have the right to veto and in such a way discontinue the contract, even if the contract is signed.”

According to him, the biggest problem is the expropriation of private land. “At yesterday’s meeting we managed to exclude from the expropriation 95 per cent of private land,” Nikolic said. He added that the two biggest issues are the future of workers who used to work in a Ski centre Brezovica and the issue of the existing buildings on Brezovica.
