The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in Kosovo, on Monday organized a conference with media representatives to discuss the state of the media in Kosovo.  Participants of the conference considered that the lack of financial sustainability of the media outlets and lack of modern business management methods are the key factors with large impact on the media and their independence.

According to a report published by the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP), media regulatory bodies in Kosovo continue to face weak capacity and political interference in their work, the report said. The report also says that the legal system in Kosovo is still not implemented as much as it should, and as such, it is not efficient. To achieve a satisfactory level of situation, Kosovo institutions should ensure the implementation of laws and criminal prosecution of the attackers on media freedom.
