Serbian Radical Party (SRS) estimated that the real reason for the change of the Constitution of Serbia is deleting the preamble stating that Kosovo and Metohija is an integral part of Serbia.
“The regime is preparing a great and dangerous deception and they are deceiving the public that the reason for amending the Constitution is the method of election of judges and reducing the number of MPs. They resorted to such media manipulation consciously, with the mandatory highlighting that the smaller number of MPs will mean significant savings in the central budget,” was said in the SRS statement to the media.
Radicals added that the Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in an interview with Wall Street Journal admitted that Kosovo is a motive for amending the Constitution, by which he showed that “it is not true that he gives the same statements in Serbia and abroad.”
“Serbian Radicals are warning the regime not to play with the Serbian state and to give up the intention to change the Constitution. Deleting Kosovo and Metohija from the Preamble would mean that Kosovo and Metohija is not in the constitutional order of Serbia and that Serbia formally and legally recognized the self-proclaimed state of Kosovo,” was stated.
SRS reiterated that the EU’s insistence on amending the Constitution of Serbia is a reason enough to immediately cease negotiations on Serbia’s entry into the Union.
