OSCE Mission in Kosovo supports community dialogue at local level

(RTK2)

The municipalities of Ferizaj/Urosevac, Strpce/Shtërpcë, and Klokot/Kllokot signed a declaration on promotion of multi-ethnic dialogue. The signing ceremony was held in Ferizaj/Urosevac Municipal Assembly Hall, while this initiative was supported by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.

Representatives of the three municipalities hope that result of this declaration will be implementation of concrete projects and return of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Although representatives of all the three municipalities emphasize that good relations between different communities exist Ferizaj/Urosevac, Strpce/Shtërpcë, and Klokot/Kllokot, by signing the declaration they wanted to demonstrate that they have the political will to jointly fight against discrimination, as well as religious and ethnic based hatred.

Among others, the declaration also envisages appointment of representatives in all the three municipalities who will have the role to facilitate cooperation between municipalities and other communities with the aim of fostering tolerance and reconciliation.

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo facilitated establishment of relations between the Ferizaj/Urosevac, Strpce/Shtërpcë, and Klokot/Kllokot. The interethnic dialogue that should be promoted with the signing of this declaration is a legal and constitutional obligation, the OSCE Mission Ambassador reminded.

“This initiative is really on the core of the activities since the very establishment of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, to help the people, to link them and to support them with concrete activities. This is the goal of this declaration, which is not legally binding, but it an act of good will. Everything depends on the personality of specific individuals, if you have mayors who are dedicated, who have the will, than everything is possible,” the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger told RTK2.

The declaration is only the first step toward implementation of joint projects, while the ultimate goal is development of the democratic and European values, which, according to representatives of these three municipalities, should be assisted by the OSCE, central institutions and other municipalities in Kosovo.

(All monitored broadcasters, TV21&KTV)

It has been more than a month since Kosovo institutions were warned about indications that Macedonian secret service had contacted some Kosovars to construct terrorist acts in Macedonia.

Kosovo Intelligence Agency had given this information to relevant country institutions since February this year. This was confirmed by reliable sources to Kohavision.

An assessment report on situation in Macedonia that KTV got hold off explains the suspicions for involvement of Kosovars in provoking riots in Macedonia.

Kosovo institutions also had accurate information about four key members of the group from Kosovo; however, they failed to take preventive measures.

Kosovo Government was also informed about suspicious movements of these persons, some of which had criminal past, including weapon possession and trafficking.

Kosovo Government and Office of the President did not reply to KTV’s questions regarding this matter. On the other hand, media quoted interior minister Skender Hyseni, saying that he knows everything, but he cannot state it for the public.
