We have clearly sent a message that we are for further progress in the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and without the establishment of the Association/Community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO) progress is not possible, said Marko Djuric, Director of the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija.

“Further steps go toward creating a community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO), in order to achieve something new and quality it is necessary to establish the Community of Serbian municipalities, further progress is not possible without it,” he told RTV Pink.

Asked about the next round of negotiations when it comes to the issue of formation of ZSO, Djuric said that currently there are efforts of the EU to persuade Pristina to hold a meeting until the end of May which might take several days, when it comes to this topic.

“We’ll see, we know what happened when the last time was scheduled, but my impression is that Pristina will be under pressure to hold these talks,” Djuric said.

Regarding the last conversation with the topic of energy, Djuric said that the main issue is who will control the transmission network and production facilities, i.e. hydropower.

“I have the impression that the most contentious issue in future talks will be who will be the distributor of the operating system. We are fighting for a Serbian company, because according to European regulations, the one who is a distributor, he is and the owner of the property,” Djuric said.

“The general climate which was created in the region brings concern among our people, because the impression is that there are Albanian politicians who did not turn to the normalization and that see as a burden all those who are not part of their people,” Djuric said.
