The last three years the incompetent government has set deadlines and goals that it could not meet, thus creating unrealistic expectations among citizens. Last year, there were speculations that the opening of negotiating chapters with the EU will be in July, and in October, then in December. Chapters are not opened, and the government blames always the EU, which creates an impression among citizens that we are constantly conditioned and blackmailed, and this leads to a decline in support for integration, told Danas Aleksandar Senic, a representative of the Social Democratic Party and President of the Parliamentary Committee for European integration.
* Is the opening of chapters with the EU postponed due to the Gazivode Lake, as Vucic said? – It is not the truth that Gazivode is the condition. It is an unscrupulous bluff. Gazivode Lake is just an excuse in order to cover up the incompetence of the government. I met with Hahn, and with Mogherini, McAllister, Danielson and many other representatives of the EU. It was never said that Gazivode was the condition for the opening of chapters, but only preparation of action plans for chapters 23 and 24. The real and only true answer on why chapters are not opened is that the Serbian government had not done its homework and have no valid action plans as a basic prerequisite. When action plans finally are completed and adopted and chapters are opened, we can expect new media spectacle, how the Gazivode remained under our control and chapters have been opened.
* The Prime Minister said that the Brussels agreement and normalization of relations with Pristina certainly are not a reason for not opening chapters, because we have fulfilled everything that it was up to us – The primary reason for not opening of the chapters are not the Brussels Treaty and normalization of relations with Pristina, but the reason is that action plans are not done for the chapters 23 and 24. Following years will be discussed about the normalization of relations with Pristina, within Chapter 35, and primarily it is necessary for the EU that itself defines the criteria for that chapter, because even in the EU there is no consistent view.
Principles for Thaci and Blair are not the same
* You have accused the prosecutor for war crimes that he jeopardized the Serbia’s European path, with the statement that Hashim Thaci could be arrested if he comes to Belgrade, because of the effective arrest warrant for him. Do you think it’s time for Thaci’s visit to Serbia? – Thaci should come to Serbia only on invitation from our government. As Blair is concerned, it is obvious that principles are not the same. My opinion is that we cannot live in the past, but we have to look to the future.
