After 26 days, Kosovo Electricity Distribution and Supply (KEDS) company has reconnected the electricity to a container settlement in Gračanica/Graçanicë, what led residents of the settlement to end the hunger strike.

KEDS decided to reconnect the containers to electricity supply following payment of the installment amounting to EUR 4.000 by the Kosovo Ministry of Communities and Return, which is only a part of the total debt, unpaid by residents of this settlement in the past months. Displaced and socially vulnerable residents of this container settlement still owe to KEDS around EUR 7.000.

Deputy Mayor of Gračanica/Graçanicë Ljubinko Karadžić yesterday said the municipality will find a way to pay the rest of the debt, and promised solution in terms of housing for families from the container settlement and its closure.
