Minister for Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic today stated that he is not expecting that creation of the special court for war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army will go without problems, and stressed that its establishment is very important for Serbia.

“It is one of the central issues for us, no reconciliation will take place without shedding light on those who committed crimes,” said Dacic for Radio Television Serbia.

Dacic reminded that Kosovo took over the obligation to create the court with the European Union’s assistance, even though the court was firs meant to be set up by the United Nations. “By its creation the phase of huge international pressure on Kosovo will end,” assessed Dacic.

Kosovo parliament is due to held a session today dedicated to constitutional amendments that would pave the way for creation of the special court for war crimes committed by members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, based on the Council of Europe’s report.

Amendments and the law should be adopted by the two-third majority of 120 MPs, along with the two-third majority of 20 MPs from the ranks of non-majority communities.
