Conference of the Executive Council of Local Public Safety Committees, organized by the OSCE, was held today in Pristina in presence of the Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni, representatives of Kosovo Police and delegations from Montenegro and Macedonia.
The purpose of Local Public Safety Committees is to improve the overall security and respond to the needs of communities in cooperation with relevant institutions. Currently, there are 47 LPSCs in Kosovo, including four new committees that have been established in northern Kosovo.
Ambassador of Norway to Kosovo Ian Braathu said at the Conference that if there is any territory in Europe that has certain level of insecurity it will sooner or later influence and others, and that responsibility for the safety at the local level is a matter of mutual relations.
