The director of the Serbian Government’s Media Office Milivoje Mihajlovic stated today that decision of the Kosovo parliament to reject the draft proposal on creation of the special court for Kosovo Liberation Army crimes is not the right path, and added that there is bigger possibility now for the court to be set by the United Nations or any other international organization.

Mihajlovic said in the RTS morning program that Kosovo parliament has shown that it doesn’t have the strength to face the past when it comes to crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army.

“That is detrimental for all, first of all for Albanians, because I am not sure that their society can develop in that manner,” said Mihajlovic.

With regard to today’s dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels, Mihajlovic said that he is a cautious optimist when it comes to reaching an agreement linked with the principles of functioning of the Association/Community of Serb municipalities (A/CSM), because, as he put it, the creation of the A/CSM has been obstructed for two years.

“Ever since the local elections were over, Pristina tried in all ways to block creation of the A/CSM. It is about an effort of Pristina to provoke reaction of the Serbian side and that negotiations fail,” said Mihajlovic.

He assessed that Pristina is investing efforts in order that Brussels becomes a formal path toward a recognition of self-declared independence of Kosovo and legalization of the current state of affairs, that is, ‘plundering of social and (Serbian Orthodox) Church’s property in Kosovo and Metohija”.

When asked about expectations when it comes to agreements on telecommunication and Kosovo receiving an area code, Mihajlovic said that all topics are on the table in Brussels, what presents an opportunity for the Serbian government to reach the right agreements that will lead toward reconciliation of Serbs and Albanians.

Mihajlovic also said that he has impression that American officials, along with the ones from the EU, have so far tolerated Pristina’s efforts in obstructing the dialogue.
