Assembly not to discuss Special Court this week

The Assembly of Kosovo will not have change of Amendment 24 of Constitution, which opens way to Special Court’s establishment, as a point in its agenda for this week’s session.

The Assembly Presidency decided to have a session on Thursday, but with other topics of the agenda, among which the budget revision and revision of the law on forgiving public debts.

Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli said that they are waiting for the Government to forward the constitutional amendment to the Assembly Presidency first, and then they will be submitted to Assembly session.

Figliuolo: KFOR can provide security in Kosovo north

The KFOR commander, Italian General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, spoke about situation in Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo north.

According to him, although situation in Kosovo is calm and stable, unforeseen situation is possible due to the fragile nature of interethnic relations.

General Figliuolo told Serbian media that KFOR can provide security in Kosovo north in coordination with the Kosovo Police and EULEX, adding that KFOR has about 5.000 troops in Kosovo that can swiftly be deployed throughout the territory.

Kosovo Police arrests a Serb suspect for damaging the Orthodox Church

Kosovo Police arrested a Serb suspect for breaking two times during the last days into St. Peter’s Church in the village Dërsnik, Klinë/Klina municipality.

Spokesperson of Kosovo Police Pejë/Pec regional directorate, Tefik Sylaj, did not disclose the identity of the suspect, but he underlined that the suspect was arrested based on witness’ testimonies and evidences.

Mayor Ahmeti denies construction of Bërnicë e Ulët road in exchange for a vote

Mainly Serb residents of Bërnicë e Ulët village from now on will have easier to Mitrovicë/Mitrovica road. Pavement of the two-kilometre road, which connects this village with Mazgit of Obiliq/Obilic from where Serbs travel toward Kosovo north, has started.

Construction of this road was also one of the conditions of Srpska List for voting in favour of Prishtinë/Pristina municipality budget. However, when construction of this road started, the only Serb representative in Prishtinë/Pristina municipal assembly and the Mayor denied that voting in favour of the budget was awarded to Srpska List with construction of this road.

“All the issues raised are related to public interest and we consider them citizens of the municipality of Prishtinë/Pristina. To me, it has no relevance if one is called Nenad, or any other name that a citizen might have, as long as the requests are legitimate,” Prishtinë/Pristina mayor Shpend Ahmeti stated.

“Construction of this road serves to both Serbs and Albanians; therefore it has nothing to do with the mayor or the voting, or anything else. I thank them, and this is not a political issue, but something that brings good to citizens,” the Srpska List municipal councillor Nenad Miladinovic underlined.

Police arrested one suspect in Viti/Vitina in relation to Kumanovo incident

Kosovo Police has arrested one of the persons involved in 9 and 10 May fighting in Kumanovo, Macedonia.

“I can confirm to you that based on an international arrest warrant issued by Macedonia, the Kosovo Police yesterday has arrested one suspected person with initials S.O., who is suspected of having been involved in Kumanovo case. The suspected person was arrested in a dwelling-house in Letnicë village of Viti/Vitina municipality. A TT revolver and ammunition was found and seized from the suspected person,” Police Spokesperson Baki Kelani told KosovaPress.

Bahtiri: Ibër Bridge will be released for all citizens and vehicles

Another promise is made for removal of the barricade over Ibër River, which divides Mitrovicë/Mitrovica into south and north.

The Mayor of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica municipality, Agim Bahtiri, said that a project that will start implementing in October this year will remove the “Peace Park” and it will also enable free movement.

According to Bahtiri, on October 1, 2015 the bridge will be cleared and a tender for the new project, which has already been agreed about, will be called.

However, Bahtiri did not disclose details how the bridge will look like after this date. Nonetheless, he stressed that Ibër Bridge will be released for all the citizens and vehicles.

The Agreement on Ibër Bridge is expected to be signed in the next senior level meeting in Brussels.

PCK approves Devolli Company complaints against Kosova Sot newspaper

Complaints of Devolli Company against Kosova Sot newspaper, which published incriminating articles and photos against this company and its owners, were approved in a meeting held by the Press Council of Kosovo (PCK).

This Council condemned defamation in articles of this newspaper, which, by not grounding itself at all on facts and evidence, published false news. At the same time, the Council found that hatred and offensive language such as criminal, mafia and similar that this newspaper used does not correspond with the ethics and the code of print media.

The Council also mentioned a series of other violations that the newspaper did while reporting for Devolli Company.
