Three terrorism suspects arrested in Badovc today (Koha)
The news site reports that on Saturday morning, in the vicinity of Lake Badovc, the Kosovo Police have arrested three people. Sources within the Kosovo Police told the news site that the three arrested are terrorism suspects and at the time of the arrest, weapons and ammunition were found amongst their belongings. However, the KP Spokesperson, Baki Kelani didn’t specify for what criminal offenses the individuals were arrested. “We inform you that on 11.07.2015, at 01:40, on the Pristina-Gjilan road, specifically near Lake Badovc, the KP arrested three suspects, on the suspicion of involvement in a criminal act,” Kelani said.
Nuland: Kosovo and Serbia made progress, but there is more to be done (Indeksonline)
The US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, stated yesterday in Croatia that Kosovo and Serbia are making progress, but there is more to be done.”With strong leadership and patience of the High Representative of the EU, Federica Mogherini, Kosovo and Serbia are making progress in healing the wounds of the past and create agreements to live as good neighbors,” Nuland said. Furthermore, she stressed that the US wants 2015 to be a year of advancement in the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, so that the EU may open the chapters on the SAA for Serbia and Kosovo. “To achieve this, brave decisions should be taken in Pristina and in Belgrade,” she said.
Thaci not allowed to travel to Srebrenica (RTKLive)
Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, has not been allowed to travel to Srebrenica to take part in the commemoration of Srebrenica massacre. Thaci announced the news on his Facebook profile, saying, “Despite the official invitation and regular visa issued by the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the last moment I was not allowed to travel to take part in the commemoration marking the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, on the grounds that I was persona non grata by the Republika Srpska.”
SPRK files indictment against Slobodan Gavric (dailies)
The Special Prosecution of Kosovo (SPRK) on Friday filed an indictment against Slobodan Gavric, for the offence of attempting to commit a terrorist act. Gavric, a citizen of Serbia, was arrested by the Kosovo Police in Pristina last December, while on his car were found high amounts of explosives. “The defendant S.G. had the serious intent of frightening the population and destabilizing and destroying the most important political, constitutional, economic and social structures of Kosovo and to commit the crime of terrorism,” noted the press release issued by SPRK. According to the press release, Gavric equipped himself in Belgrade with 25 explosive devices weighing around 12 kg.
Haliti: We should listen our friends’ advice on special court (Epoka e Re)
The Deputy Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly and senior member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Xhavit Haliti, in an interview with the paper has called on the PDK MPs, especially those who voted against special court, to listen to Kosovo’s friends’ advice regarding the establishment of this court. Haliti said that the statements of the international community to establish the special court as soon as possible, cannot be called pressure but only a friendly advice. He said that he had discussions with his colleagues who did not vote for the establishment of special court, and believes that MPs should vote in accordance with the decisions that the party’s leadership has taken.
Northern Serbs, part of the Serbian delegation (dailies)
All dailies report that despite that the representatives of the Serbian List are part of the Kosovo institutions, in the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue in Brussels, they are part of the Serbian delegation. This was confirmed by Goran Rakic, Mayor of Mitrovica North. “I have been a member of the Belgrade delegation at the invitation of the European Union and my goal is to find a sustainable solution and a compromise,” Rakic said.
Amendments on KAF, sent to the Assembly Presidency (dailies)
The Committee for Legislation yesterday approved the constitutional amendments which open way for the creation of the Kosovo Armed Forces (KAF). Members of this Commission called on the Presidency of the Assembly that these changes to be put in the agenda for the next session, so that “Kosovo becomes with army before the MPs go on vacation.”
